Smoking Ban 1st July 2007

THE LONG AWAITED SMOKING BAN IS ON IT'S WAY! AS A COMPANY ARE YOU READY? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW?

As from July 1st 2007 smoking will be illegal in all enclosed business premises and you will need to ensure that you are complying with the legislation. At minimum you will need to put signage at every entrance to your building explaining that it is illegal to smoke inside the premises. In addition you will need to communicate the requirements to your employees and any visitors to your site. Where you have company vehicles, is will be illegal to smoke in them if two or more employees travel together and signage will need to be affixed inside.

The smoking ban has already been successful in Scotland and Ireland and will be similarly implemented in England to protect non-smokers from the considerable dangers of passive smoking. For upto the minute information go to link

Mobile phones

Don't use them while you drive if you want to stay alive!
It is now an offence to use a hand held mobile phone while driving, punishable by £60 fine and 3 points on your licence. Even if you are using a handsfree system if the police believe that you are not in control of your vehicle you could still receive the same punishment. You are putting yourself and others at risk so PULL OVER! and talk safely.
